KATHLEEN LOE is a multi-media visual artist and independent art writer living in New Orleans. She writes critical essays for exhibitions, journals, and monographs, including Alchemy of Light, Mary Conover, published by Whale & Star Press. 

KRISTON CAPPS was born in Texas. His writing about art has been published by the Washington City Paper, Washington Post, Art in America, ARTnews and Artforum. Capps is an editor for Architect magazine and lives in Washington, D.C. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin. 

KATY DIAMOND HAMER is originally from New York, an art writer and artist now based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Kirsten Nicholas is a freelance writer and art critic based in New York City. She received her MA from Christie’s Education and works closely with established and emerging artists as a consultant and advisor.

LAUREN DEHERRERA is a writer and gallerist currently working in Salt Lake City. She received her Masters in Art with an emphasis in late 19th early 20th century European painting from the University of Utah.

LINDSAY PRESTON ZAPPAS is an artist and writer living and working in Los Angeles. She received her MFA in sculpture from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2013. Zappas is the co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of the online art magazine, Carets and Sticks. Her writing has been featured on Art21, LA Canvas, and various show catalogues. 

Lilly Wei is a New York-based art critic and independent curator.

MASON RIDDLE is an independent curator and writer. She has contributed to Artforum, Architectural Record, Dwell, Metropolis, MODERN, Public Art Review, and Surface Design, among others. She is former director of Two Rivers Gallery, MN Percent for Art in Public Places and The Goldstein Museum of Design.

NOAH BECKER was born in Cleveland Ohio in 1970, and lives and works in New York City. He is also a contributing writer for Art in America, Canadian Art and Huffington Post Arts section. 

Nicole Borgenicht is a freelance writer based in Los Angeles. Her writing has appeared in Desert ArtScene, LA ArtWeek, Fine Art Connoisseur & Art Ltd. 

Nadja Sayej knew she made it when Art in America called her “demented.” Best known as a Gonzo art critic for ArtStars*, she writes for the New York Times and VICE magazine. The director of ArtStars*, a talent management and PR agency, she moonlights as a rapper named Snowe White.

Nico Wheadon is an independent art producer, consultant and writer who lives and works in London. Her practice—which employs both critical and experimental methodologies—surveys the sociocultural roles of creative production in relation to human geography. 

OLIVIA FALES is an art educator and writer based in Los Angeles. She freelances and teaches at LACMA and the Skirball Cultural Center. 

PETER FRANK is Associate Editor of Fabrik Magazine and art critic for the Huffington Post. He has served as Senior Curator at the Riverside Art Museum, Editor of THEmagazine Los Angeles and Visions Art Quarterly, and art critic for the LA Weekly, Village Voice, and SoHo Weekly News. Frank has curated exhibitions around the world and published numerous books, catalogues, and essays.

ROBERT CURCIO is a NYC-based writer, curator and consultant to art fairs, artists, and galleries. He returns to writing in this issue of Artvoices, in the past writing for Artnews, dART International, Sculpture, Tema Celeste and Zing. 

REINE ULLMAN OKULIAR is the co-founder of Galerie E.G.P, a contemporary art gallery based in Paris with offices in New York. Reine has curated over 30 exhibitions internationally in the past five years with a focus on modern and contemporary art. 

RICHARD CHANG is a Southern California-based art writer, critic and educator. He has written for ARTnews, the Orange County Register, The Santa Fe New Mexican and the San Francisco Bay Guardian. He served as the O.C. Register’s full-time art critic for more than 14 years, and teaches at UCLA. 

SHANA NYS DAMBROT is an art critic, curator, and author based in Los Angeles. She is currently LA CANVAS Art + Books Editor and LA Editor for Whitehot Magazine, as well as a regular contributor to the LA Weekly, Art Ltd, Bluecanvas, VS Magazine; and she is a journalist at KCET’s newest program, Artbound. 

SHANA BETH MASON is an art consultant and critic based in Brooklyn. She holds a master of arts degree in the History of Art & Connoisseurship from Christie’s Education London. Mason is the Miami editor of Whitehot Magazine, and has contributed to ArtPulse Magazine, Artlog, FlashArtOnline, Miami Art Guide, Sculpture, The Art Economist, The Wanderlister+ Asia, and Whitewall Magazine.

SHANE MCADAMS is an artist, curator and writer living in Brooklyn. He received his MFA from the Pratt Institute. He has contributed cultural criticism and art reviews to the Brooklyn Rail since 2003. 

Sharon Pittman is the author of The Museum for the People. Her writings have appeared in publications ranging from the community newsletter of the Arts Council of San Bernardino County to scholarly journals, such as Interdisciplinary Humanities. 

SHEENA MALONE is a curator from Ireland. Having completed a masters in Curating Contemporary Art at Stockholm University in 2014, she moved to Berlin, where she currently resides. Prior to moving abroad she spent six years working at The Douglas Hyde Gallery, Dublin.

Shantrelle P. Lewis is a 2014 United Nations Programme for People of African Descent Fellow and 2012-13 Andy Warhol Curatorial Fellow. She is a U.S.-based curator and researcher who travels internationally researching Diasporic aesthetics, spirituality, and the survival and evolution of African retentions. 

SUSAN KENDZULAK is an artist and writer based in Asia. She currently writes about the business of art atfineart.about.com and has written for various publications such as FlashArt, Art Asiapacific, Art Review, Sculpture, and Yishu.

THADDEUS ZARSE moved from the Midwest to the east coast to the west coast to the Dirty South, where he now resides in New Orleans. TOM BETTHAUSER received his BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and his MFA from the Yale School of Art, he currently teaches Studio Art and Art History in the desert North of Los Angeles where he directs a non-profit gallery and maintains a studio practice focused on painting. 

A native of North Carolina, TORI BUSH received her M.A. in Arts Administration from the University of New Orleans. She is currently is the Program Director at the Creative Alliance of New Orleans, an arts writer for Pelican Bomb, Dailyserving, Artvoices and an editor for Catalogue, a guide to local art exhibitions in New Orleans. Additionally, she loves to do sculpture and ceramics. Ms. Bush’s heart currently resides in New Orleans, Louisiana. 

JILL THAYER received a Ph.D. in Cultural Studies/Museum Studies from Claremont Graduate University with research in artist emergence and professional practice. Her post-doctoral series, “In Their Own Words: Oral Histories of CGU Art,” is included in Archives of American Art at The Smithsonian Institution. As an artist, educator, curator, art historian, and marketing strategist, she brings insight to the contemporary dialogue by exploring the narratives of people and their contributions to the culture.
